YOUTH SAILING SCHOOL COURSES

RYA Youth/Children's Sailing stage 1

• 5 x 2 hour sessions 

• Introductory course

• Child friendly boats

• No experience required

• Logbook & certification included

• Skills development includes: Learning to launch, steer, tack and control your boat
  as well as becoming confident on the water and in wearing personal buoyancy. You
  will be able to tie a figure of eight knot, recall parts of the boat and have knowledge of
  wind direction.

 

RYA Youth/Children's Sailing Stage 2

• 5 x 2 hour sessions

• Child friendly boats

• Start sailing upwind

• Logbook & certification included

• Skills development includes: Learn how to gybe, master the basics of tacking, controlling speed and stopping in light winds whilst becoming safety conscious and confident in small boat sailing (Laser Pico and/or RS Tera).

• Opportunity to join our Sailing Club to further your confidence and develop your skills amongst other young budding sailors.

 

RYA Youth/Children's Sailing Stage 3

• 5 x 2 hour sessions

• Child friendly boats

• Become self-sufficient and understand the importance of teamwork and crew communication

• Sail on all points of sail

• Skills development includes: You can confidently regard yourself as a sailor! Pick up the skills to sail upwind and fly back downwind, pick up a mooring and stop next to the safety boat to have a chat about rules of the road with your instructor. An introduction to racing and a capsize recovery drill completes this rewarding and satisfying course and adds another dimension to your sailing.

RYA Youth/Children's Sailing Stage 4

• Learn how to sail double handed boats

• Child friendly boats

• Understand the importance of teamwork and crew communication

• Skills development includes: This final stage is all about double handed boats, those with two people and two sails. Develop the practical skills and theoretical knowledge to sail in a variety of conditions and situations and confidently take control and solve problems afloat.

• Passing this course sets you up to move onto the RYA advanced courses.​
