Description

As a natural stepping stone after your youth stage 4 or adult level2/3 qualification, the Seamanship Skills sailing course develops all the skills you have previously learnt to equip you to sail in moderate conditions. You will master new sailing techniques including heave to, man over board, sailing backwards and even sailing without a centreboard or rudder! Your instructor will encourage independent thinking in assessing conditions and executing manoeuvres. The focus on self-reliance is supported by decision making activities such as navigating around the Carrick roads using Falmouth tide information and I.R.P.C.S (rules of the road) as well as other sailing background topics to enable you to feel confident in taking charge of the boat and your crew. If you are thinking of a career in the instructing world this is a favourable course to pass as it develops a safe and competent method of sailing.

This course includes RYA Certification.
